Eliana Berger, pre-criminal justice major from Shady Point, was recognized as the 2024 recipient of the Colonel Gary Adams, #3 Chief of Oklahoma Highway Patrol Memorial Scholarship at Carl Albert State College. In 2021, Bob and Deanna Reed established this scholarship to honor the memory of Col. Adams and his dedication and service to his family, friends, community, state and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The late Col. Adams was the longest serving chief in the history of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. This scholarship is awarded to a resident of Oklahoma who is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree in Pre-Law Criminal Justice and is planning to pursue a career as an Oklahoma State Trooper.
