Fresh from their triumphant showing at the Oklahoma/Arkansas Regional Convention, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) members from Carl Albert State College made waves at the PTK Catalyst conference in Orlando held April 4th – 6th, 2024. The group proudly returned with six international trophies.
Since the international conference, PTK has been awarded a $1000 Honors in Action grant and also organized a new PTK Alumni Chapter; the first members will be inducted during the chapter induction ceremony on Wednesday, May 8th.
At the Regional Convention, CASC PTK shone brightly, clinching a total of six Chapter awards and one individual accolade. These accomplishments underscore the chapter’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to the pillars of Phi Theta Kappa: scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.
Additionally, the Chapter President, Brandi Woods, was recognized with the Distinguished Officer Certificate of Merit for her outstanding leadership.
“Our success at the Regional Convention is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every member of our chapter,” said Brandi Woods, Chapter President. “We are honored to have received these awards and are excited to represent our region at the international level.”
Of particular note is the chapter’s victory in the Regional Theme 3 Honors in Action Project, qualifying them for consideration for the international award in the same category. This achievement highlights PTK’s innovative approach to addressing significant societal issues.
Furthermore, Brandi Woods was honored as a Coca-Cola Gold Scholar in the Scholar Parade during the Catalyst Gala award ceremony. This is a prestigious honor bestowed upon her by PTK and the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges (OACC). This recognition comes with a $1500 scholarship to her transfer institution of choice, furthering her academic pursuits and leadership journey.
