CARL ALBERT STATE COLLEGE RECEIVES CYBERSECURITY GRANT, HOSTS ON-SITE TRAINING

Sallisaw, OK – Carl Albert State College (CASC) is proud to announce its receipt of the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP) grant awarded by the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security (OKOHS). This grant aims to bolster cybersecurity training for public entities in Oklahoma, and CASC’s successful application highlights its commitment to enhancing cybersecurity education in the state.

The focus of CASC’s grant application centered on providing comprehensive cybersecurity training through the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium (NCPC), a program facilitated by the Criminal Justice Institute at the University of Arkansas. This initiative represents a crucial step in strengthening cybersecurity preparedness among public organizations.

This significant event marks the second OKOHS Cybersecurity Workshop held in Oklahoma, with the distinction of being the first to take place on the eastern side of the state. The workshop, a 4-day hands-on training, took place from February 26-29, 2024, on the CASC Sallisaw Campus.

The workshop was tailored to IT professionals responsible for system or network administration, with registration limited to 32 participants. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in immersive training sessions aimed at enhancing their cybersecurity skills and knowledge.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive certification for 32 hours of IT professional development credit, further validating their expertise in the field of cybersecurity.

CASC expresses its gratitude to the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security for their support in advancing cybersecurity education and readiness across the state. This initiative underscores CASC’s dedication to equipping professionals with the tools and knowledge necessary to combat cyber threats effectively.
