Poteau, OK – This past Saturday, Carl Albert State College proudly hosted the Women’s National Duals, bringing together five exceptional teams from five different states in an exhilarating showcase of women’s wrestling prowess.
Teams from Umpqua Community College (OR), Snow College (UT), Ellsworth Community College (IA), Trinidad State Junior College (CO), and Carl Albert State College (OK) converged in Poteau, OK, to participate in a highly competitive round-robin format. Each team wrestled against the four other schools, demonstrating skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
The final standings reflected the intensity of the competition:
1. Umpqua Community College (OR) claimed the top spot, finishing in 1st place winning all 4 duals.
2. Snow College (UT) secured 2nd place, going 3-1, with their only loss coming at the hands of Umpqua.
3. Carl Albert State College (OK) clinched the 3rd position, narrowly falling to Snow and facing a hard-fought battle against Umpqua.
4. Trinidad State Junior College (CO) secured the 4th spot, recording a victory against Ellsworth but facing losses in the other three dual meets.
5. Ellsworth Community College (IA) landed in the 5th position, going 0-4 on the day.
Notable undefeated performances from Carl Albert State College included two Viking wrestlers: Calli Connally at 101 and Alexis Miller at 109. Additionally, Rachel Dismuke at 123 and Malia Kehne at 136 both had impressive records of 3-1 for the day.
The event was a celebration of the incredible talent, dedication, and sportsmanship displayed by the athletes and coaches from across the nation. Carl Albert State College is grateful for the opportunity to host such a prestigious event and thankful to the teams for making the journey.
A special acknowledgment goes to the athletic training staff, Chelsie Barnes and Savannah Glasco, whose exceptional care ensured the well-being of the athletes throughout the day.
