Are you looking for a challenging career that enables you to help people and allows you to earn a livable wage? Consider Carl Albert State College Nursing Program. Successful completion earns you an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and prepares you to apply for the NCLEX- RN Licensure Exam.

The Mission of the Carl Albert State College (CASC) Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Nursing program is to facilitate affordable, accessible, exceptional education to guide students in their preparation to provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to diverse clients in entry level practice as a registered nurse. The program accomplishes this by helping students acquire client assessment and clinical judgement skills through participation in theory, clinical, and simulation experiences. The students are introduced to communication, management, and technological skills important in nursing practice. Students are encouraged to embrace the value of lifelong learning in preparation to provide health care to the communities where they practice.

Program Outcomes

Upon program completion students will :
– Evaluate the nursing process by using scientific rationale, evidence-based practice and
critical thinking to meet client needs while respecting their dignity, cultural diversity and
right to make health care decisions.   
– Select therapeutic communication principles to establish and maintain the therapeutic,
professional relationship with clients as they adapt to their health status on the health
illness continuum.     
– Collaborate with members of the healthcare team to manage a group of clients with
diverse needs while functioning within the scope of associate degree nursing practice and
continuous quality improvement. 
– Value nursing skills according to evidence-based practice for health promotion,
restoration and prevention of complications while providing a safe environment to reduce
risks to clients.   
– Appraise the use of technology and informatics in communication and management of
data in support of nursing practice and teaching/learning principles for clients and peers
to maintain and promote client health throughout the lifecycle.
