CARL ALBERT STATE COLLEGE CELEBRATES WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT MONTH

Community colleges play a crucial role in providing accessible and affordable education to individuals seeking to enter or advance in the workforce. These institutions not only offer academic programs, but also provide training opportunities for students looking to gain practical skills that are in demand by employers. At the heart of this mission lies workforce development, a key component of community college education that prepares students for successful careers and supports the economic growth of local communities. With September being Workforce Development month, we would like to highlight some exciting advancements made through our workforce development team at Carl Albert State College.

It is a mission at CASC to empower individuals to improve their skills and increase their marketability in the job market. These programs often focus on high-demand fields such as healthcare, early childhood and cybersecurity. By providing hands-on training and industry-recognized certifications, CASC helps students develop the knowledge and skills required to succeed in these fields.

Through our River Valley Employer and Education Partnership, CASC has forged strong partnerships with local employers. The River Valley Employer and Education Partnership focuses on health care and early childhood education and system support needs of four employer partners, including Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs, Adventure Head Start and the City of Sallisaw.  This educational partnership strengthens the training and education options to best align with the specific needs of these employer partners. CASC desires to work closely with local employers to understand their workforce needs and tailor their programs accordingly. This collaboration ensures that graduates are equipped with the right skills and competencies to meet the demands of the job market.

The impact of workforce development at CASC goes beyond empowering individuals and meeting the needs of employers; it also contributes to the economic growth of local communities in the River Valley. By providing skilled and qualified workers, CASC is striving to help attract new businesses to the area and support the growth of existing ones. This, in turn, will lead to job creation and increased economic activity.

“At Carl Albert State College, we are proud to be a driving force for workforce development in our region,” said President Jay Falkner.  “Our programs have not only helped countless individuals secure jobs but also contributed to the overall economic well-being of the communities we serve. As we celebrate Workforce Development month, we invite you to join us in recognizing the importance of this vital aspect of community college education and its impact on individuals, employers, and local economies.”

Here’s to another successful Workforce Development Month at CASC! Keep checking our website for updates on our programs and partnerships, and get ready to be a part of this impactful mission. Together, we can build a brighter future for our community through workforce development.
