POTEAU, Okla. – Carl Albert State College Athletics is pleased to announce the promotion of Coach Peyton Kendrick to Assistant Head Baseball Coach, recognizing his continued leadership, growth and contributions to the program.
Now in his fifth year at CASC, Kendrick has become an integral part of the baseball program, taking on responsibilities that extend across nearly every aspect of day-to-day operations. His work includes managing strength and conditioning, assisting with practice planning and organization, maintaining the field, overseeing work-study students and helping coordinate the responsibilities of the program’s assistant coaching staff.
“Coach Kendrick has really established himself as a cornerstone piece of our program,” said Paul Pulley, Head Baseball Coach. “There are too many things he does for our program to mention, but managing strength and conditioning, practice planning and organization, field upkeep, overseeing work studies, and helping direct traffic with our other assistant coaches are several worth noting.”
Throughout his five years at Carl Albert, Kendrick has continued to take on greater responsibility and develop as a coach and leader. His understanding of the program and its expectations has allowed him to work more independently and anticipate needs before they arise.
“I have really been impressed with how often he takes care of something without having to be told to,” Pulley said. “He has become very confident and independent. He has done a great job of taking some things off my plate, which has allowed me to focus and put more time into certain areas that demand my attention.”
Kendrick’s growth has also included developing a greater understanding of the balance required to compete successfully in the present while continuing to build a strong program for the future.
“He has really learned to balance focusing on winning now while also preparing for the future,” Pulley said. “In my opinion, this is one of the trickiest aspects of coaching college athletics, and it definitely takes some time and experience to navigate.”
For Kendrick’s head coach, the promotion also represents the progression of a young coach whose development he has had the opportunity to witness firsthand.
“I have been able to watch Coach Kendrick grow and develop as a young coach over the last five years, and that has been really fun for me,” said Pulley. “I am certain that he has a bright coaching career ahead of him and that his best days are yet to come.”
Kendrick’s promotion reflects Carl Albert State College Athletics’ commitment to developing strong leaders who support student-athletes both in competition and throughout their college experience.
