Poteau, OK – Carl Albert State College recently reached a significant milestone as its Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Nursing Program celebrated the largest graduating class in program history, with 60 graduates from the Poteau and Sallisaw campuses completing the program during the 2025–2026 academic year.
The milestone reflects steady growth in the program over the past several years and reinforces the college’s commitment to preparing highly skilled healthcare professionals for Oklahoma and the surrounding region. Just a few years ago, the program graduated 32 students annually. Since then, the number of graduates has continued to increase, rising from 32 in 2021 to 51 in 2025, before reaching this year’s record-setting total of 60 graduates.
The increase comes as Carl Albert State College continues to strengthen and expand nursing education opportunities. The program is now in its second year of offering its online LPN-to-RN pathway, creating additional access and flexibility for students seeking to advance their careers while balancing work, family responsibilities, and other commitments.
The nursing program has consistently earned recognition as one of Oklahoma’s top nursing programs and continues to produce strong student outcomes. Graduates have maintained NCLEX pass rates above 95%, demonstrating the quality of instruction and preparation students receive throughout the program.
“This record-setting class represents more than numbers,” said Rebecca Sanders, MSN, APRN, NP-C, Program Director. “It represents future nurses who are ready to step into hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities and make a difference in the lives of others. We are incredibly proud of the work these students have put in and excited to see the impact they will have across our communities.”
