Carl Albert State College is proud to announce that Steven Cruz, standout athlete from the Vikings Cross Country team, was named the NJCAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period of September 2–9.
The honor, announced by the NJCAA National Office in Charlotte, NC, recognizes top performers from around the country in fall sports including men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, and football. Cruz’s selection marks a significant milestone not only in his individual career but also for the Carl Albert State XC program.
Cruz impressed during the opening stretch of the 2025 season with a dominant performance that turned heads across the NJCAA. His speed, endurance, and determination on the course were on full display as he led the Vikings with a top finish that helped set the tone for the season.
This achievement reflects the growing strength and competitiveness of the Carl Albert State cross country program, which continues to build momentum under its current leadership.
