Poteau, OK — Carl Albert State College’s men’s and women’s cross country teams delivered a powerhouse performance at their home meet on Friday, August 29, earning first-place team finishes on both sides of the competition.

The event, hosted on CASC’s challenging home course, showcased the Vikings’ determination and talent, with standout individual performances leading the way.

On the men’s side, Steven Cruz claimed the top spot in the 8K race with a commanding time of 29:12, crossing the finish line well ahead of the competition. For the women, Lindsey Wortham dominated the 5K race, clocking a 21:43 to secure an impressive first-place finish.

“These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our athletes,” said Coach Kristin Snyder. “Starting the season with such a strong showing on our home course is exactly the momentum we need as we prepare for the upcoming meets.”

The dual victories mark a strong start to the season for the Vikings, who look ahead to building on this success as they take on future competitions.
