POTEAU, Okla. – Carl Albert State College students recently had an opportunity to connect classroom learning with the real-world political process during visits from Steve Glinski, a candidate for Oklahoma House of Representatives District 3.
Glinski visited three American Federal Government classes on the CASC Poteau campus on August 28, September 1 and September 9. The visits, held in the Ollie Center, gave students an opportunity to hear firsthand from a local citizen participating in the state political process. Glinski is a candidate for Oklahoma House District 3 in the November 3 general election.
During each class, Glinski shared information about his background, his decision to seek state office and his experience as a candidate. The second half of each class was dedicated to questions from students, allowing them to engage directly in conversation about government, elections and civic participation.
The classroom visits provided students with a practical connection to concepts discussed in American Federal Government courses and an opportunity to see civic engagement beyond textbooks and lectures.
Experiences like these support Carl Albert State College’s commitment to providing students with educational opportunities that encourage critical thinking, informed participation and engagement with the communities around them.
Carl Albert State College provides affordable, accessible and exceptional education that fosters student success, with campuses in Poteau and Sallisaw and a robust Online Campus.
