Sallisaw, OK – The City of Sallisaw and Carl Albert State College, working together through the River Valley Education and Employment Partnership (RVEEP) grant, are proud to announce the inaugural River Valley Workforce Development Summit, set for Friday, October 10, 2025, at Sallisaw Middle School. The event will bring together employers, educators, and community leaders from across the region.
This first-of-its-kind Summit is the result of collaboration among local stakeholders committed to addressing one of the region’s top priorities: building a strong, skilled workforce that supports both today’s economy and tomorrow’s growth.
The Summit will feature:
- Expert speakers offering insights on workforce needs and trends
- Networking opportunities with leaders from across the River Valley
- Action-oriented conversations to strengthen the region’s long-term stability and viability
“As Sallisaw continues to grow, we know that developing a robust workforce takes all of us—businesses, schools, and community partners—working together,” said George Bormann, Economic Development Director for the City of Sallisaw. “The Summit is an opportunity to make sure our workforce is not only prepared for the jobs we have today but for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
The RVEEP grant through Carl Albert State College provides vital support for this effort, ensuring resources and partnerships are aligned to create impact at both the local and regional level.
“This Summit reflects the heart of the RVEEP grant’s mission,” said Stephanie Qualls, Director of the RVEEP Grant for Carl Albert State College. “When we connect education, employers, and community leadership, we create a workforce that will sustain our area’s future growth and prosperity.”
This local effort also aligns with the International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) 2025 Economic Mobility and Opportunity (EMO) Cohort, a nationwide initiative that equips communities to reduce barriers such as access to childcare, transportation, housing, digital connectivity, and financial literacy. Selected communities in the cohort will receive mini-grants and technical assistance to advance economic mobility strategies. By drawing on these national best practices, the River Valley Workforce Development Summit underscores the region’s commitment to building an inclusive, resilient economy.
