Carl Albert State College (CASC) continues to demonstrate its vital role in driving economic growth and community development across Oklahoma. A recent economic impact analysis revealed that CASC generated $99.97 million in total economic output and supported 986 jobs with $44.11 million in wages during fiscal year 2024.
The study, conducted by the Economics Center, highlights the college’s influence through its operational expenditures, student spending, and the contributions of its alumni. These factors not only bolster local industries but also stimulate additional economic activity, household income, and spending throughout the state.
Significant Return on Investment
In fiscal year 2024, CASC received $6.52 million in appropriations from the Oklahoma Legislature. For every dollar invested by the state, the college produced $15.33 in total economic output, illustrating the institution’s exceptional return on investment for taxpayers.
Fiscal Benefits to State and Local Jurisdictions
The college’s operations and related economic activities generated $3 million in total fiscal benefits for state and local jurisdictions. This included $1.58 million in income tax revenue and $1.42 million in sales tax revenue, benefiting state, county, and local governments.
Direct and Indirect Impacts
- Direct Impact: $51.4 million in output, 726 jobs, $29.9 million in wages
- Indirect Impact: $48.6 million in output, 260 jobs, $14.2 million in wages
- Total Impact: $99.97 million in output, 986 jobs, $44.1 million in wages
“These findings underscore the powerful economic and social impact Carl Albert State College has on our region and the state of Oklahoma,” said President Jay Falkner. “Beyond providing quality education and workforce training, CASC serves as an engine for economic growth, job creation, and fiscal stability.”
