Dr. Jason Morrison – Vice President for Academic Affairs – Carl Albert State College

Dr. Jason Morrison is the new Vice President for Academic Affairs at Carl Albert State College beginning June 2, 2014. Dr. Morrison, his wife Stephanie, and their daughter Brennan have moved to Poteau from Columbus, Nebraska where he worked for Central Community College.

In addition to Nebraska, Dr. Morrison has experience in higher education in both Oklahoma and Arkansas. “I am from Arkansas, and I received my higher education degrees there as well as worked for several years as a college instructor and administrator. From there I worked in the Oklahoma higher education system before going to   Nebraska, and I was recently selected as a Higher Learning Commission Peer Reviewer. When the opportunity to join Carl Albert State College presented itself, I knew this was exactly where I wanted to move my family.  I can’t wait to get started in my job here, and we look forward to making Poteau our home and becoming a part of the community.”  He continued, “Carl Albert State College has a wonderful reputation of being an outstanding community college, and I am anxious to help build on that reputation. To this point, I have moved around and gained a wealth of experience. I am now ready to stay in one place, and that place is Carl Albert State College.”

Carl Albert State College President Garry M. Ivey stated, “We are very excited to have Dr. Morrison join our team at Carl Albert. He will play a vital role as we move forward, and his background in higher education academics will benefit us immensely.” President Ivey continued, “We conducted a nation-wide search to fill this position, and we are confident Dr. Morrison is going to be an asset as we continually strive to offer the very best possible education to our students at our Poteau and Sallisaw campuses as well as online.”

Dr. Morrison’s office is located in the recently renovated Johnson Hall on the Poteau campus.
