Carl Albert State College Students Nominated to All-USA Community College Academic Team
Four Carl Albert State College students have been nominated to the All-USA Community College Academic Team. Representing Carl Albert are Shirley Brown from Fort Smith, Reyna Burgos from Heavener, Christian Flores from Muldrow, and Katelynn Miller from Poteau.
The students were selected in recognition of scholarly achievements and leadership accomplishments. The program is sponsored by Follett Higher Education Group and highlights regional and nationally the quality programming and academic excellence provided by two-year colleges. USA TODAY with additional support from the American Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society help make this program possible.
Annette Staats, Carl Albert’s Phi Theta Kappa advisor, explained that PTK students from across Oklahoma are selected to represent their community colleges on the All-USA Academic team.
President Garry M. Ivey stated, “It is an honor to nominate students each year for this prestigious program. We appreciate that these students have worked hard to succeed at Carl Albert, and we are confident they will continue to be successful as they move forward.”
Upon graduating from Carl Albert, each of the four students will receive transfer scholarships to continue their education at a four-year college or university in Oklahoma.
