Carl Albert State College Educational Talent Search Summer Programs

The Carl Albert State College Educational Talent Search (ETS) program sponsored their annual summer leadership programs, the university tours trip, and their cultural events trip in June, 2014.

ETS is funded 100% by the US Department of Education.  The Poteau ETS program has a budget of $306,752 and serves 668 middle and high school students.

The middle school leadership camp was June 4 at Carl Albert’s Poteau campus.  The high school camp was a two day event on the Poteau campus with participants spending one night in campus dorms.   Their agenda included a trip to People’s Inc. Challenge Course in Sallisaw.

The University tour program was a two day, overnight trip to experience what educational opportunities are available at the university level in Oklahoma.  This event was for high school ETS participants.

On June 17 a group of middle school ETS students visited the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium and Oklahoma Aquarium as part of the ETS cultural events program.

Photos show ETS members visiting a university campus and a team building exercise underway. Brock Stacy, a student from Heavener, is shown checking out an astronaut uniform at the Space Museum.
